Where the heck did summer go? Sheesh

Mon Sep 21, 2009, 9:10 PM
Ok, who stole summer? Here in WI we didn't have much of a summer. The weather was in the upper 70's to lower 80's. Not much for beach/pool weather with the kids.
I aint complaining much though, it was a nice, beautiful summer. Not to hot. The cool summer (I think)should make for fantastic fall colors though! I hope to take out my new art journal to paint this fall.
I bought a BEAUTIFUL handmade paper with leather that some people in the UK use. It's buffalo skin and they use the skin because they are leftovers from a farm. OMG, she embosses them beautifully, she uses earth friendly tanner stuff for the hides. She makes the papers and she binds them.
Lookie!

Thank you for your sweet comment and the favorites. This is the first time I've really dedicated myself to keeping an art journal, and I find I usually want to draw in it the most when I'm having feelings that would normally exert themselves in destructive ways...it's a good alternative. And you're right about the feeling when you finish a page. It gives me the feeling that I've somewhat dealt with my emotions and ended up with something tangible as a product.

oh, you are welcome. I'm sitting here right now painting and writing now. I'm trying something new, new to me anyway. First I write what I want in a fine Sharpie, then I paint over it with watered down watercolors, then I add a layer of oil pastels, then scratch off the oil pastels to reveal the words under it. It keeps my hand occupied anyway.
I found this artist that I thought I'd share with you. I thought you'd might like her stuff. The colors she uses are very inspiring!
